Your safety, physical and emotional, is the foundation of my work. This policy explains how I look after it in online and in-person sessions.
1. What embodiment coaching is, and what it is notEmbodiment coaching is a non-clinical, educational and supportive practice using body awareness, nervous-system understanding and, where you agree, simple gentle touch (non-aplicable in online sessions).
It is not medicine, psychotherapy, or a treatment for any medical or psychological condition, and I do not diagnose, treat or cure anything. It does not replace care from a doctor, psychologist or psychotherapist. Please keep any medical or mental health treatment you already have.
2. Before we startI ask you to share, in a short intake or in conversation, anything I should know to keep you safe. This may include current injuries or surgeries, medical conditions, pregnancy, medication that affects sensation or balance, and any mental health support you are receiving. You choose what to share. If you tell me about a condition where touch or movement could be harmful, I will adapt the session or ask you to check with your doctor first.
3. When coaching may not be suitableI may suggest waiting, adapting the work or referring you to another professional if, for example, you are in an acute crisis, having thoughts of harming yourself or others, experiencing symptoms that need clinical care, in the early period after a major trauma or medical procedure, or under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the session. I will explain my reasons and help you find appropriate support. I may end a session if I believe it is unsafe to continue.
4. Consent, choice and touch- Participation is always voluntary. You can say no, pause, change an exercise or stop at any time, without explaining.
- Gentle touch is optional and used only after I explain it and you agree. I ask each time, and consent can be withdrawn at any moment.
- Touch is limited to areas we agree on beforehand, such as hands, arms, shoulders, upper back, and never to intimate areas.
- Anything touch can offer can usually be done in other ways, such as verbal guidance, self-touch or props, and choosing these will not change our work together.
- I work in a trauma-informed way: I go slowly, offer choices, watch for signs of overwhelm and check in with you often.
5. Emergencies and crisesOnline sessions. If I believe you are in immediate danger during a session, I may contact emergency services (112 in Italy and the EU) and your emergency contact.
In-person sessions. I will call 112 for any medical emergency and stay with you until help arrives.
I will tell you about any sensitive disclosures I need to make before I make them whenever it is safe to do so.
6. In-person sessionsI hold in-person sessions at Via Nino Bixio, Milan (Studio The Flow). The space is kept clean, tidy, well ventilated and at a comfortable temperature, free from hazards, with clear exits and access to a first aid kit. I wash my hands before and after sessions where touch is involved and use clean linens or mats. If you have mobility needs, tell me and I will adapt the space where I can. If either of us has an infectious illness, we will reschedule, and I will not charge a late-cancellation fee for illness-related changes made in good time.
7. Online sessionsFor your safety and privacy during online sessions, please:
- join from a private, quiet place where you will not be interrupted;
- use a stable connection and a device you can comfortably position;
- make sure there is enough space to move, and nothing around you you could trip on;
- do not drive or do anything that needs your full attention during a session;
- let me know if your location changes during a session.
I use
Zoom and keep it updated. I do not record sessions unless you have agreed in writing.
8. After sessionsBody-based work can bring up sensations or feelings afterwards, such as tiredness, emotions or increased awareness. This is common. If you feel unwell or distressed after a session, please contact me. If you need urgent medical or psychological help, contact your doctor or emergency services (112), or a local crisis line.
9. Group sessionsIn groups, I set shared agreements about respect, consent, confidentiality and personal choice at the beginning. Anyone may sit out any exercise. Participants are asked not to share what others say outside the group.
10. My responsibilities as your practitioner- I will work only within my training and scope, and refer you onward when something is beyond it.
- I keep my training up to date and look after my own wellbeing so that I can work safely and use supervision and peer support.
- I hold insurance for my practice: [XXXXXXX].
- If something goes wrong, I will look after you first, record what happened, and learn from it. If you have a concern, see my Complaints Handling Policy.
11. Your responsibilitiesPlease give honest information about anything that affects your safety, tell me if anything changes, look after your own wellbeing between sessions, and speak up when you want to change something or stop.
